Asia Stocks Trade Positively in Response to “Robust” Results of “Moderna”’s Covid-19 Vax

Stocks in Asia traded higher on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, in response to positive sentiment on the potential coronavirus vaccine, developed by Moderna.

 

As of 9:15 local time in Thailand (GMT+7), Nikkei jumped 1.37%, SSEC edged 0.05% higher, HSI rose 0.96%, ASX 200 hiked 1.25% and Kospi advanced 0.96%.

 

Over the night, an American biotech company Moderna said that its vaccine in the early-stage trial produced a “robust” immune response to coronavirus in all 45 patients.

Investors were grappling on the rising coronavirus cases worldwide and the race to produce a vaccine, causing global stock markets to move based on the report.

Meanwhile, the U.S. President Donald Trump said he signed legislation to impose sanctions on China in response to its interference in Hong Kong.
