SET Edges Slightly Lower as Investors Focus on Tomorrow’s Trade Talks.
SET Index opened slightly lower by 0.30 points or 0.02% on August 14, 2020, with a trading value of 2.09 billion baht.
Finansia Syrus Securities expected SET Index to move sideways within 1,340-1,350 points due to a lack of positive factors to drive the market. Even though the U.S. weekly jobless claims ended August 8 came in at 960,000 for the first time in five months that the number fell below one million claims, the unsettlement on the new stimulus packages still weighed investors sentiment down. Meanwhile, investors are focusing on the trade talks between the U.S. and China on August 15 to look for development in the phase 1 trade deal.
Meanwhile, Asia stock markets were fluctuating in the morning session. Nikkei rose 0.11%, SSEC fell 0.10%, HSI gained 0.04%, ASX 200 increased 0.48% and Kospi dropped 1.38%.
