Thailand Declares Emergency Decree to Control Protesters and Bans Large Gatherings.
The Thai government declared an emergency decree in the early morning of October 15, 2020 to clear protesters off the area. The decree also included banning large gatherings.
Yesterday, the youth-led protest for democracy marched to the Government House of Thailand to pressure the Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to resign and camped around the area.
In the evening, the Thai PM declared an emergency decree to control the gathering, which the police forces transmitted to protesters, citing that they are violating the laws.
To avoid confrontation, the leaders told followers to return home, but some still remained at the site, which later led to a small confrontation between police officers and protesters in the early morning of Thursday. Some were arrested during the confrontation.
The announce of an emergency decree included banning of large gatherings and banning of publishing or reporting news that could spark fears or concerns to the people.
