PTTEP Discovers Oil and Gas Well in the Malaysian Sarawak SK405B Project.
PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) has announced that PTTEP Sarawak Oil Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PTTEP, has successfully made a discovery of oil and gas at the first exploration well, Sirung-1, in Sarawak SK405B Project, located in offshore Malaysia.
Commenced in January 2021, the Sirung-1 wildcat exploration well was drilled to a total depth of 2,538 meters where it encountered a significant oil and gas column more than 100 metres in the Sandstone reservoirs. The appraisal well is scheduled to be drilled next year to assess the upside resources.
Sarawak SK405B Project is located in the shallow waters, approximately 137 kilometres off the coast of Sarawak (Bintulu). PTTEP Sarawak Oil Limited is the operator with 59.5 percent participating interest. Mitsui Oil Exploration Company Limited (MOECO) and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. holds 25.5 and 15 percent interest respectively.
