SET Edges Slightly Higher, AWS Sees Positive Sentiment amid Vaccine Rollout

Asia Wealth Securities see positive sentiment in the market amid the vaccine rollout plan into June and July.

The Thai stock market rose slightly higher by 0.03% to 1,567.22 points on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, as of 10:30 local time.

Asia Wealth Securities (AWS) expected the SET today to move in a range of 1,545-1,580 points. The security company expected the SET to remain volatile after yesterday (18 May), the SET rose 17.6 points (+1.14%), positive feedback on crude oil price increases and confidence in the government’s vaccine supply increased after yesterday’s cabinet meeting resolved to manage the COVID-19 situation and vaccination. In particular, vaccination in Bangkok to at least 5 million people (70% of the people in Bangkok) in Jun to Jul 2021 is a positive sentiment for shares in the Domestic sector, including stocks in tourism-related groups.

However, AWS advised investors to be careful with the profit-taking force after the decline in crude oil prices, especially stocks in the Commodity Upstream group. AWS continued to focus on our recommended Core Investment, with a portfolio of 50%.
